presente is an ongoing series that intervenes directly on the landscape to declare "presente", a cry of protest spoken in Mexican and Mexican American marches to validate the lives of politicized identities who have been murdered. Guzman Velasquez walks into site-specific geographical locations as safe spaces, a wildlife refuge or a residency for people of color, where her writings are placed on the landscape to harmonize the history of the region.
